This extension fits the Savio Waterfall Well for creating larger pondfree or disappearing waterfalls and streams. Use the extension for deeper waterfall resevoir for larger system. This will allow less of a footprint in the landscape area.

Savio Pond Free Waterfall Well Installation

TIP: Make sure the Waterfall Well is sitting completely flat on the bottom of the reservoir, as level as possible in the lowest part of the excavation with the lid approximately 2 to 3 inches below grade level. This will be accomplished if the excavated resevoir is approximately 30 inches in over-all depth, (or 48 inches in over-all depth if using the optional Waterfall Well Extension). This will ensure easy access to the pump vault if needed for routine pump maintenance or other access needs. Placing the unit too deep in the gravel back fill is unnecessary and will only make it more difficult to uncover the lid during any necessary access.
 
TIP: To keep the two piece container from seperating during the backfill process as rocks and stones are distributed around the perimeter of the Waterfall Well, SAVIO suggests that you first place black vinyl electrical tape around the entire circumference of the component in two or three locations. This tape is very inexpensive and cost effective and will not deteriorate in water. Be careful not to plug any water access openings at the bottom of the Waterfall Well. The tape will temporarily hold the two halves of the Well together more securely. After the rocks are in place, the tape is no longer needed but can be left in place indefinitely as the vinyl tape is totally harmless to your water feature system.
 
TIP: When using the optional Waterfall Well Extension for larger systems using a deeper reservoir configuration, SAVIO suggests that you alternate the seams between the two halves of each section of the components. EXAMPLE - if the seams from the two halves of the Waterfall Well are facing north and south, make sure the seams from the two halves for the Extension section are facing east and west. By off-setting these seams you will increase the structural integrity of the device significantly.
 
TIP: When backfilling the reservoir around the circumference of the SAVIO Waterfall Well, it is suggested that you use 4 to 6 inch rounded river rock for the base fill. Angular rock can damage liner and compacts much too tightly, leaving little room for water storage. Smaller gravel, such as pea gravel, is very stable but also compacts too much, allowing for less water storage. Larger rocks and small boulders allow for plenty of water storage area but the rocks are more unstable and do not lock together well. After the inexpensive 4 to 6 inch base fill is in place, the top 3 to 4 inch portion of the reservoir can be topped off with a more aesthetically pleasing decorative rock or gravel which is usually more costly. This will keep your reservoir holding plenty of water while saving you money by not filling it with expensive rocks.
